Hide items from visitors

Hide an item or a whole group so that only you and your collaborators can see it. Visitors and embedded maps don’t show it. Useful for drafts, or for places you want to switch off for a while without deleting them.

Requires a Business or Enterprise plan.

How to hide

1. In edit mode, select the item or group. You can select several at once.
2. In the Item tab, tick Hide from visitors.
3. Save the map.

To show it again, untick the box and save.

In the item list, hidden items have a crossed-out person icon.

Groups

Hiding a group hides everything inside it.

While a group is hidden, its items’ checkboxes are greyed out. Unhide the group first to change them. Items you hid one by one stay hidden when you unhide the group.

Check what visitors see

Save the map, then choose Map → Visitor view → Preview as visitor (desktop only, not available on private maps).

Downloads

Visitors’ downloads never include hidden items. Your downloads as an editor do.

If you leave the Business plan

Hidden items stay hidden, but you can’t save the map until you unhide them.
